JRC Documentation

Over the decades the JRC has issued a lot of documentation. Whilst much of it is of no relevance today, some is of academic interest and some is still of practical use. Only you, the reader can decide, so we make no attempt to sort the information. Simply look down the list of document titles and see what takes your fancy.

JRC Technical Memoranda

The JRC's Library of Technical Memos issued between 1970 and the present day.

Lots of interesting stuff. GO THERE.

RF Designer 1 RF Planning Tool Manual

This is the on-line version of a now long-obsolete radio planning tool called RF Designer. It was developed for JRC by EA Technology in the late 1980s - early 1990s and ran on SunOS using the SunView platform. We still have a couple of computers that have this tool installed but it's been a long time since we used it. It's successor, RadioTools, was introduced in 1993 and is still going strong today. Even with the plethera of planning tools available on the market today, RadioTools is still the most accurate and most tested tool for plannig radio systems in the 140-150MHz bands. Radiotools is rated between 50 and 500MHz and also runs on Solaris but uses the more modern OpenWindows (X-Windows) windowing system so it's eminently suited for use by several operators over a network.

The RF Designer 1 User Manual (Big file (178kBi) and lots of in-line pictures to load = long wait unless you have broadband.)

The "Famous" JRC Orange Books.

These are the manuals for planning and designing JRC PMR systems using MPT1327 trunking. Originally issued in the late 1980s in a series of seminars for planning engineers these books will give you all the information you need to design and plan your own network. No excuses, then!
